As reported by the Spanish newspaper El Faro de Ceuta, this operation is a collaborative probe with Spanish officials as part of "Operation Hades," which aims at dismantling transnational drug smuggling rings. The publication included photos depicting security forces carrying out inspections in the region.

In recent days, Moroccan teams have kept up their efforts by conducting extensive ground searches employing sophisticated tools such as sensors and cameras aimed at pinpointing possible openings of tunnels. These operations, conducted discreetly, have centered around an area within Tarajal, where preliminary assessments indicated a connection between the passageway beneath and adjacent storage facilities.

A second excavation, conducted on Sunday, reinforced the possibility of the tunnel connecting to a nearby shack. Civil Protection teams, equipped with specialized equipment, entered both excavation sites for further inspection.

Recently, Spanish and Moroccan security personnel, which included members of Spain’s Department for Home Affairs along with the Civil Guard’s defense attaché stationed in Morocco, convened to synchronize their strategies.

A special undercover team from the Spanish Civil Guard is anticipated to reach shortly to confirm the tunnel’s transborder link, after receiving an official plea for legal and governmental collaboration.

The initial discoveries suggest that the tunnel, found earlier this year by the Spanish Civil Guard, might have several exit points. The Spanish authorities have apprehended 14 people so far in connection with the probe, and they continue their pursuit to locate the rest of the smugglers involved in the network.
